I3RC online calculator

Introduction

This calculator performs short 3D radiative transfer simulations and yields the spatial distribution and the scene average value of radiances, fluxes, and absorption at selected wavelengths.
  • Before solving a radiative transfer problem you need to define the 3D cloud structure.
  • The size of the file specyfing 3D cloud structures is limited to 2 MB, which roughly corresponds to 50 X 50 X 36 grid points.
  • Only liquid phase clouds are considered (no ice clouds or aerosols).
  • Since running time is limited to 5 minutes, we suggest using small photon numbers first and then increasing them as appropriate.
  • After 5 minutes, simulations stop and show partial results even if not all photon batches could be completed.
  • A sample scenario for using the online calculator for I3RC case 4, experiment 4.

The code is written in ANSI standard Fortran 95 and has been tested on a range of platforms, though it is rather hard on compilers. Here we provide excutable files for Macintosh computers.

To obtain the code or its excutable file, please fill out the form below and email it to Tamás Várnai.
